Tamara Folven Andersen is a multimedia artist who utilizes emotions and experiences to create her diverse imagery and sculptures. She wears her heart openly within her artwork and often hints at a quirky sense of humor. Additionally she describes herself as a color nerd and loves exploring the science behind the artwork.

“The act of creation for me is a true necessity just like eating, sleeping or even breathing. My thoughts, emotions, fears, as well as, my understanding of the world slip into every one of my creations regardless of the media I have chosen.”

Tamara began her formal artistic journey as a painter where she earned a BA from Colorado State University and an MA from the University of Northern Colorado. As an art educator she discovered many diverse mediums: watercolors, acrylics, photography, clay prints, fibers, encaustic, and wire. She has exhibited a wide range of work in galleries, university collections and group shows within the United States.
