  • Amanda Vela-Charbonneau creates original art as part of her meditation practice. Her work is an expression of her relationship to a power greater than herself and seeks to impart a sense of hope, peace, and joy within the viewer. Her process is stream-of-conscious, each form in her patterns is inspired by the previous line, shape, or form; it is the physical unfolding of a journey of prayer, worship, and connection. Amanda draws inspiration from travel, adventure, nature (God's creation) and faith, her body of work is mostly abstractions of wildlife by re-imagining the motifs of the mandala and sacred geometry to create her own original style. She incorporates free-hand ink and color pencil drawings, watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, as well as mixed media creations into her collections. Each piece is meant to be uplifting through the use of vibrant colors, harmonious patterns, prayer, love, and positive intentions.They are mediations on spiritual principles and conversations with her Creator. In 2019, she began creating a series of abstract portraits, the first of which will be featured at her solo exhibition at Kanon opening tomorrow.
