From an early age, Tyson McKinney has used art to pierce the veil between different perspectives of the amazing world we live in. He was taught classical techniques from an early age and chose to move to NYC after high school instead of accepting a place in Akron University’s fine art program. He lived there for five years, absorbing the local art scene while continuing his independent study. Delving into many mediums, he has worked to extract the underlying essence of a feeling or moment at a subject’s core. Be it pencil, ink, photography, oil, wood, or clay, he both distills and accentuates the complexities, emotion, and soul of a piece.

Artist Statement.

“Everything is art, it’s just about the lens through which it is viewed. Even the most mundane objects and moments reveal some sublime intricacy when seen in the correct light. The spectrum of experience wraps around a Mobius strip. The key is to raise your perspective, even for a moment, outside the status quo. Though there is nothing wrong with just a pretty picture.”
